Gazza: Step Vezzena - Top Vezzena (Pizzo di Levico)

cispole again and, of course, more snow. This time we Vezzena plateau, which is headed by the famous ski area in Levico Terme (TN), located between the Vallagarina Valsugana el'Altopiano of Seven Common.

We come then to Vezzena Pass (1.417m), where you can enjoy the beauty of the plateau, was once the scene of battles (you can still see and visit the Austrian forts) , now known as the ski area and ... for the namesake cheese. Our goal is Vezzena Cima, also called Pizzo di Levico (1.908m).

leave your car in a clearing behind the state and we head north to our destination. The day is beautiful. The off-piste is a must, given the vastness of the area and the almost total absence of obstacles. Unfortunately, the snow is not great, and little ice to the point as to prohibit the use of snow shoes ... at least initially.

At the end of the plain, we follow a strict initially endorsement for then deviate significantly within the forest. The climb really starts, and the snow begins to give way under our weight ... it's time to wear snowshoes.

Take a right and after a few tens of meters to abandon the road direct us along the side tracks recent snow ... make us guess that is the right direction. That's the side you open and above us stand out of the buildings hut Marcao di Sopra. We arrive and we take advantage for a short break refreshing, enjoying the beautiful scenery.

Take the road that goes in the direction the top. The day is so sunny that you perceive a typical spring temperatures, to the point of being able to snowshoe in short sleeves. Sometimes it is a must stop for admire the view behind us ... such a day makes you want even more to pursue the path toward the goal ... the glance from the top is fantastic.

then continue along the slope, cutting a bit long in the bush and then go definitely to the fork which is located east of the top Vezzena. We get there and already by this point you can begin to enjoy the beautiful view towards Valsugana. The desire to reach the top increases ... continue along the path beaten that winds up with a decision along the side of the mountain. There are many people, the beautiful day Sunday and drew a popular destination several hikers. But here you can see clearly top ... we ... we are to cross . A wonderfully beautiful! We are surrounded by mountain ranges and valleys (see photo below). Where do I start taking pictures? In all this beauty stand the ruins of the strong Cima Vezzena (Werk Spitz Verle). We are looking for a place to sit down and give us a break before a marvel.

Now you need to go. But we follow a different route, taking initially il versante ovest in direzione del sentiero 205, seguendo il percorso di quella che dovrebbe essere la stretta stradina che sale verso la cima. In breve, però, abbandoniamo il tracciato battuto per tagliare lungo il versante, in fuori pista tra gli abeti . Qui inizia una parte che personalmente ritengo molto divertente, perché ci ha fatto apprezzare in particolar modo l’utilizzo delle ciaspole e… il contatto con la natura. Grazie a questo “taglio” la discesa è molto più veloce, tanto da ritrovarci sulla piana di Vezzena con un po di rimpianto che questa parte di escursione sia già finita.

We still have a small part of the effort to cross plateau which separates the car, but it's a small thing, just time to enjoy some more views and then returns home.

Conclusions:

out nice and short, ideal for those who want to familiarize yourself with the snowshoeing and the backcountry, otherwise they are safe. The climb is not prohibitive and can be further sweeten avoiding toll roads and steep slope that we followed ... we just keep along the original path.

In terms of scenic trip that is very rewarding especially when you reach the top Vezzena, from which you can admire a truly fantastic.

I think it is a pleasant excursion for lovers of ski mountaineering, which have the ability to get out of the beautiful trail along the slopes in the woods.
